How to Keep Your Website Active With a Full Time Job

in Website

Maintaining a website is an interesting business, it not only enables you to have a platform to express yourself but also to earn some good money, but it is in no way an easy business. Maintaining a website requires constant work. The cyber world today consists of innumerable websites ranging from business related to information or entertainment based on pretty much every topic conceivable. Hence, regardless of how out-of-the-box your website is, the chances are it is not the only one.

Hence, in order to make it to the top of the search engine rankings and increase website traffic, you will need to keep on constantly updating your website. Search engines, particularly Google, not only check for keyword relevance but also latest upgrades when showing search results. With a full time job, it can get all the more difficult to maintain a website and to generate website traffic. Following are some very easy and time efficient ways to drive traffic to your website:

1. Social Networking Websites

Social networking websites have become hard to ignore, the chances are, you, as well as most of your contacts have an online presence on at least one of these social networking sites. And nobody says you cannot use it for business. Facebook has over a billion monthly users, 50% of which are daily users, and by simply targeting them, you can easily generate substantial internet traffic without spending much time. Simply make a Facebook page and share links about your website and its content from time to time. Also share it on your personal page, it shouldn't take more then a few minutes and can generate free website traffic. You can easily do it from your office or even your mobile or other handheld devices.

Twitter and LinkedIn are also great forums, so make sure that your website has an active presence on these social networking sites too. Pinterest is another popular addition where you can make a strong impact only by posting images. So just Pin relevant and interesting images on your page from time to time with interesting captions and of course the link to your website.

2. Share Links

In your free time or when browsing the internet during breaks, if you come across a piece of content which is interesting and related to your website just share it on your websites blog and link it back to the source. This will do two things; one, you will be linking other websites which will increase your rankings and two, your website will remain fresh and current. Also request the other websites that you link to your website to link to yours too.

3. Time Management

Time management is crucial to the success of any business or activity. So make a schedule and try to stick by it. You can take Saturday's to respond to e-mails, social media queries and content, and perhaps Sunday's to write a blog, etc. Once you have a schedule it will be relatively easier to stick by it rather than doing random activities at irregular times.

Keeping a website active is important for generating website traffic, but it does not have to consume all your free time, by applying the above mentioned tactics, you too can easily keep your website relevant during the changing times without having to give up on your other activities.
