The Bing-O Secret

in Website

So you have tried everything and still you can't put your site in the front page of Google search. What to do then? Tried Yahoo? Oh, no luck either! Ok, don't give up and go for AdWords. Try Bing-O (somehow, I prefer this to the official name), the revamped Live search of MSN. Even though MSN search is at the low end of the total searches handled by search engines, they are reports that it is getting plenty of eyeballs lately. From their present 12%, it is believed that they will be able to reach at least 30% by early 2010. What more, with the combined effort of Yahoo search, Bing-O might just ring that bell for you. It is definitely worth your while to optimize your web site for good old (but they say they are very young) Bing-O!

Here then are some secrets that you can reach the top of Bing-O!
1) Bing-O likes URL's that contain your keyword. So if you have decided on your website name, go and choose one that contains your keywords. Here, keywords should be two or more words combined. More words mean more specific and less competition around. If however you already have your URL and it does not contain your preferred keywords, do not despair. You will then have to make sure that your Meta title tags carry that important keyword or key phrase that you are targeting. And don't forget to splurge some of those keywords in the rest of the page, but don't overdo it. Always write natural contents here as the days of over stuffing keywords on your page will get you blacklisted soon enough. Remember, search engines are getting very smart now, so no more keyword loading!

2) Add plenty of contents. Fifty pages if possible, but you should have to build it up slowly, so as not to be categorized as spam.

Well, some people will not like this one and might be scared stiff when adding contents are concerned. If you are doing a blog, then adding contents become natural, but if yours is a website, adding contents might be a problem. Depending on the subject, adding contents might need all your ingenuity; just imagine that you are running a TV channel and you are competing with other channels to add that 'show' that will pull in the viewers.

3) Linking still matters but don't go for reciprocal ones as they are viewed as quite passed and dated. If you can, put up articles in article directories and get a one way link back to your website. Posting articles can have magical effects. Posting good articles (need not be in the author class) can get you plenty of one way links, most of which you might not even be aware off until you check it out! Well, talking about articles, getting some else who is good at writing to help out should be the way to go. But you thought you were good, when you were hammering away on the keyboard when you were doing your FaceBook and Twitter! It is the same way, just that you got to be more finesse in your presentation. You don't know you can do it until you have written one.

4) And the final important thing to do for good Bing-O is try to put fresh contents every now and then. You need not put up the whole page of fresh items, just tweak here and there so that the MSN bot sees as activity. The search engines like new activities more than anything, and MSN loves it even more. Even if you have reached the top, you will experience a dropped position if you don't update your page for a week. Here, you will need to check your statistics to see how often the MSN bot does come checking; the more it comes, the more you need to feed it with updates.

Of all the factors that can positively put your website in page one of Bing-O is the updating feature. It will also put you in good stead with Google, and a lesser extend with Yahoo. You should craft up your skill with updating the website contents as the days of just putting up a website and leave it without any updating will not work anymore. However, writing fresh content is a challenge, and for most people, it is a new paradigm that they have to acquire. Perhaps, a new industry will thrive; that of third parties doing the write ups, just to cater to people who are not very comfortable with writing contents.
